About me
I’m Milly. I’m an award-winning sex educator, content creator and the author of HONEST: Everything They Don’t Tell You About Sex, Relationships and Bodies.
I’m known for my candid, colourful and utterly unembarrassable approach to all those essential conversations we often shy away from. I’m particularly committed to making sex, relationships and health feel less overwhelming and more accessible for people who, like me, are queer, neurodivergent or disabled and often feel overlooked by mainstream sex education and dating advice.
For nearly a decade I’ve been an advocate for comprehensive, inclusive Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). My parents run a sex toy business so I grew up in a house where no question - however awkward - went unanswered. But, frustrated by my school’s lacklustre sex ed, I spent my teenage years balancing exams with trips to Parliament as I threw myself into the successful campaign for compulsory RSE in England, and the development of the new curriculum which followed.
I began my professional career as a health journalist at Patient.info, specialising in sexual and reproductive health. Within six months I was promoted to Editor, leading their essential coverage throughout the first two years of the pandemic and earning praise from NHS leadership.
Simultaneously, I poured my energy into sex education and worked on one of my most rewarding achievements, my book, HONEST: Everything They Don't Tell You About Sex, Relationships and Bodies (Hot Key Books, 2022). It’s the book I wish I’d had growing up - a much-needed inclusive guide to sex, relationships and bodies, by a young person, for young people. HONEST was longlisted for the UKLA Book Awards 2024, had its own billboard and even featured in an episode of Netflix’s Sex Education (which really made me feel like a proud parent)!
In 2021, I finally made sex education my full-time focus. Through content creation, writing, speaking and media work, I’ve now reached tens of millions of people with sex education they might otherwise have missed out on, and built a vibrant community of over 430,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram.
I’ve spoken at literary festivals and conferences, received incredible media coverage, and partnered with organisations like UNESCO, Internet Watch Foundation and National Literacy Trust. I’ve collaborated on exciting projects with so many amazing brands like Boots, Urban Outfitters and Hinge. As as long-standing member of their Creator Programme, I’ve worked closely with TikTok on multiple Pride and health education campaigns, and represented #BookTok at the Hay Festival.
In recognition of my work, in 2022 I won Young Person of the Year at the Brook and SH:24 Sexual Health Awards, and was honoured as an LGBTQ+ Trailblazer by TikTok UK.
I’m an accredited sex educator through acet UK. I’ve completed BISH UK’s Advanced RSE Training Course, as well as training with Brook, Vagesteem and other organisations.
I’m proudly queer, non-binary, autistic, ADHD and disabled. I use they/she pronouns. And yes, I’m a big fan of colour - pink’s my favourite.
